  • Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities in the electoral and political processes

    UDPK is currently supported by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to implement a project aimed at promoting the participation of persons with disabilities in the electoral and political processes. The project supports the wider efforts of the Disability caucus on the Implementation of the Constitution (DCIC) to promote compliance with the Constitution implementation process.

  • Domestic monitoring and observation on voter education prior to the 2012 General elections

    ECJP and CEDMAC operating under the auspices of ELOG, intend to conduct domestic monitoring and observation of voter education prior the 2012 General elections. This partnership effort would seek to determine the degree to which the electorate, having benefited from voter education efforts, are adequately informed on the purpose of the election, their voting rights and obligations, the election date(s) and procedures, the range of electoral options, and their knowledge on how to vote. Additionally, the monitoring and observation efforts will evaluate the extend to which pertinent information is reasonably available to all eligible voters in a form they can comprehend in a timely fashion (i.e. allowing a reasonable time for the audience to make use of information).

  • Political / campaign financing practices
    CGD on 18th, October 2011

    CGD is currently undertaking a Project aimed at conducting a study on the current status and problems associated with political/campaign financing practices and recommend appropriate solutions and policy alternatives. The objective of the study  will be assessing the legal framework and practices with regard to accountability and transparency of political parties. Additionaly, it will inform the mapping of political party financing and misuse of state resources before, during and after elections.The study is intended to inform the development of strategies and tools to monitor campaign financing practices in the electoral cycle for future elections including 2012.
