On 4th August, 2010 Kenyans went to the polls to vote on whether or not to adopt a new constitution to replace the one that has been governing the  country since independence in 1963. This poll marked the second time that Kenya was conducting a referendum on the new constitution, the first such ref-erendum having taken place in the year 2005.
